Try It Yourself

This is the buoy’s own web interface, running here in your browser. Press Start and it plays out a real measurement: the deploy countdown, the measurement window, then the result at the top of the history table. Every link works — open the logs, read a measurement, look through the settings.

Nothing here touches a real buoy, so there is nothing you can break. It is the place to get familiar with the interface before you are standing on a boat with one hand on the helm.

Measurement complete

The result is at the top of the history table — average speed in m/min with knots alongside, and the average direction. The buoy is ready for the next run straight away; there is no need to power cycle between measurements.

Things to try

1. Press Start measurement and watch the sequence through to the result.
2. Start another, then press Cancel countdown before it begins recording — nothing is saved.
3. Start one more and press Stop measurement partway through. Too few samples, so it fails.
4. Open Log files, then View on any measurement to see its charts and summary.
5. Open Settings and scroll to the bottom for the system logs and diagnostics.
6. From Settings, open Firmware update and install one of the sample files with the PIN 1234. Try the e-paper sample too — it is refused.

What is different from a real buoy

The clock runs at eight times normal speed, so a full run takes about seven seconds instead of fifty-five. The GPS readings drift on their own to keep the page alive. Deleting logs and installing firmware are simulated in your browser, and a firmware update runs at its real speed. Everything else — the states, the buttons, the filtering that decides whether a measurement counts, the checks on an uploaded file — follows the firmware.
